Pop Out Lenses Plastic Frames

Glasses with plastic frames are usually quite flexible so lenses pop out easily with a bit of coaxing.

Once the screws are out hold the frame with one hand and put the thumb of your other hand on the front of the lens just under the bridge of the nose. Push firmly to pop the lens out of the plastic frame. Gently push the lens inward to pop it out then do the same thing with the other lens. When you have a favorite pair of glasses it s upsetting if the lenses get scratched or the frame gets bent or broken.

For a plastic lens attempt to wiggle the lens to see how snug the fit is. If the lens does not pop out easily do not force it. Remove the frames towel dry them and pop the lenses out from the back using your. Do not force the lens out.

Older glasses may have become loose with wear and the lens may slide out with minimal pressure. For a frame with a screw use the tiny screwdriver that comes with a glasses repair kit to open the frame. Apply heat until the lenses pop in easily. Again do not use force with the lens.

You may need to apply a bit more heat from the hairdryer or soak again in hot water. Insert the frames and let them soak for two or three minutes to further soften them. If the lens doesn t pop out the first time apply more heat to the frames and keep trying. Sometimes you may be sick of the frames and want to fit the lenses to a new one or sometimes the lenses are blurred but you still love the frames for new prescription lenses.

Pop your new lenses into the old frame while it is still flexible from the heat. But even if this happens to you you don t need to shell out the cash for a new pair.
